Job Description

Role & responsibilities :

  • Preparing financial transactions and/or general ledger journal entries with supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and correcting any errors as needed.
  • Examining bank statements and preparing reconciliation statements, along with reconciling other general ledger accounts and generating any debit/credit notes.
  • Reviewing employee-submitted expense claims for accuracy and compliance.
  • Verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling accounts payable and receivable.
  • Accounting for financial transactions of projects/programmes under AKES, India in the region (e.g., RFC, FLP, SDP, outreach initiatives).
  • Supporting the Manager Accounts & Finance (Region) in preparing programme budgets and financial reporting as required
  • Ensuring timely and accurate monthly closing of unit books of accounts.
  • Preparing monthly and quarterly reports for respective units, including KPIs, and gathering justifications for variances in coordination with the units.

Assisting the Manager Accounts (Region) in preparing budgets for the respective units (Schools/Hostels) and the Regional Office

  • Ensuring proper statutory deductions and compliance, including ESI, PF, PT, TDS, TCS, and timely filing and reporting of returns for each unit/legal entity.
  • Supporting the Manager Accounts (Region) in closing statutory audits for each legal entity by ensuring adherence to GAAP, AKES, India policies, and timely preparation of financial statements, reconciliations, and other necessary documentation to the satisfaction of auditors.
  • Assisting with collating and responding to internal audit requirements and ensuring financial actions arising from observations are addressed.
  • Updating the Fixed Asset module for all asset acquisitions and disposals within respective units.
  • Addressing any unreconciled items in the Fixed Asset module after necessary approvals.
  • Supporting units in conducting fixed asset verifications as per AKES, India policy.

Qualification Skills Required :

  • Educational Background: At least a B. Com/M. Com degree.
  • ERP Knowledge: Working knowledge of Microsoft D365 F&O platform or any equivalent ERP environment.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Accountant or 7 years as a Junior Accountant, preferably in the education sector.
  • Soft Skills:

- Effective communication skills and a confident personality.

- Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork capabilities.

- Ability to work collaboratively across organizational teams.

- Professional maturity, sensitivity, and impeccable integrity.
