Job Description
As a Data Migration Analyst, they will be responsible for data migration efforts for Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365)/Other implementations. This role involves working closely with senior data migration specialists/functionals and technical teams to execute extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes, focusing on accuracy and data integrity. The Analyst will assist in data analysis, preparation, validation, and troubleshooting to ensure smooth data migration for D365 projects.
Key responsibilities -
Data Preparation & Mapping:
- Assist in identifying and documenting data requirements, working with source data from various systems for migration to D365 /other system .
- Support data mapping efforts by aligning source and target data structures under senior guidance.
Data Extraction, Transformation, and Loading (ETL):
- Execute ETL processes using D365 /other system and SQL tools, ensuring data is transferred accurately to the target environment.
- Assist in transforming and cleansing data to align with D365 /other system requirements, maintaining data quality throughout the migration process.
Data Validation & Testing:
- Perform basic validation checks to ensure data accuracy and completeness in the target D365 /other system environment.
- Contribute to testing processes by running test scripts and helping with reconciliation tasks, identifying data mismatches, and addressing issues.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of data mappings, ETL scripts, and migration processes for project documentation.
- Provide regular updates on migration progress, noting any data issues or discrepancies to senior team members.
Collaboration & Support:
- Work closely with senior migration analysts, developers, and D365 /other systems functional teams to meet project objectives and timelines.
- Assist in troubleshooting data migration issues by reviewing logs, investigating errors, and performing data cleanup tasks.
User Training and Support:
- Provide training and support to end-users on data migration processes and best practices, ensuring a smooth transition to D365.
- Continuous Improvement :
- Identify and implement opportunities for improving data migration processes and methodologies
Qualification and Skills -
- Bachelor s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field with 3 + years in a similar role with a focus on data migration and Dynamics 365
- Strong understanding of Dynamics 365 functionalities and data structures.
- Basic understanding of data migration concepts and tools, particularly within the D365 environment.
- Strong attention to detail and data quality standards.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
- Knowledge of D365 data structures or prior exposure to D365 implementations.
- Certifications in ETL tools (any ETL tools certification)
- Experience with cloud-based data solutions, such as Microsoft Azure.
- Knowledge of SQL and other database management systems.
- Working experience in Azure or JIRA devops platforms
- Exposure to cloud environments (Azure) and familiarity with data management tools.
- Interest in learning data migration best practices and advancing within D365 technical data roles.
