Job Description
SMTS FIRMWARE/S OFTWARE DEVELOPMENT ENG INEER
THE ROLE:
AMD is looking for a specialized Firmware/Software development engineer who is passionate about developing drivers, FW/SW test routines, and bringing to life the most advanced board products used in Data Centers, HPC, Smart networking, Video. The boards have the most advanced interfaces like PCIe Gen 5/Gen6, DDR5/LPDDR5, 56G/112G/224G Transceivers, 200/400/800G Ethernet ports and are driving transformation in AI/ML/Inferencing, Video transcoding/monitoring, HPC, FinTech, and 5G Wireless. You will be a member of a core team of incredibly talented industry specialists and will work with the very latest hardware and software technology.
THE PERSON:
The ideal candidate should be passionate about software engineering and possess l eadership skills to drive sophisticated issues to resolution. Able to communicate effectively and work optimally with different teams across AMD.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for SW/FW development to test various HW functions in a board product
- Responsible for integrating SW/FW routines developed by IP centers of excellence into functional test program
- Work with other functional teams distributed globally, including HW design, Quality, Operations, Solutions etc
- Responsible for functional test development for boards during bring-up, proto/qualification/production phases,
- Support manufacturing test and debug in production at CM as required.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Very good hands-on experience in hardware/software debugging skills desired
- Experience with software development processes and tools such as debuggers, source code control systems (GitHub) and profilers is a plus
- Expertise in C programming with heavy usage of pointers, structs, unions, bit fields for organizing program data. Familiar with standard C library functions, file I/O and parsing techniques.
- In-depth C++ programming experience with object-oriented design techniques including develop a class hierarchy.
- Strong embedded system (firmware) and/or device driver programming experience. Requires register level programming and developing software from chip datasheets.
- Windows or Linux multithreaded application programming experience.
- Experience in writing test routines for PCIe Gen 3/4/5, Muti Gigabit serial buses, DDRx/LPDDRx, Flash, SPI, I2C etc preferred.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Bachelor s or M asters degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electronics/Electrical Engineering
