Librarian

Role & responsibilities

• Collection Management: Selecting, acquiring, cataloging, and classifying library resources.
• User Services: Assisting patrons in locating information, answering reference questions, and providing guidance on research methods.
• Library Operations: Managing circulation desk activities, including checking in/out materials, shelving books, and enforcing library policies.
• Information Literacy: Educating users on how to effectively access and evaluate information resources.
• Digital Resources: Managing electronic databases, online catalog systems, and digital archives.
• Collaboration: Working with faculty, researchers, and other community members to support their information needs and promote library services

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Information Science, or a related field (for entry-level positions).
• Master's degree in Library Science (MLS) or Library and Information Science (MLIS) for senior or specialized roles.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in library management systems and digital research tools.
