Senior Technician - Operation Theatre (Urology)

Role & responsibilities

• Patient Care Support: Assist in preparing patients for urological procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety before, during, and after procedures.
• Procedure Assistance: Assist in various urological diagnostic procedures such as cystoscopies, urodynamics tests, bladder ultrasounds, and endoscopic surgeries, among others.
• Equipment Management: Maintain, clean, and calibrate specialized urological equipment and instruments. Ensure the equipment is ready for use and functioning properly before and after each procedure.
• Clinical Documentation: Record detailed patient information and clinical notes during procedures, ensuring accurate documentation in patient records.
• Collaboration: Work closely with urologists, nurses, and other healthcare staff to ensure smooth workflow and optimal patient care. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior technicians within the department.
• Patient Education: Educate patients on pre- and post-procedure care, provide instructions regarding medication or lifestyle changes, and answer any questions regarding their condition or treatment.
• Quality Control and Compliance: Ensure that all procedures are in line with hospital protocols and comply with safety and hygiene standards. Support quality assurance initiatives to maintain high standards of care.
• Inventory Management: Monitor inventory of supplies and order necessary materials, ensuring the department is adequately stocked with the required tools and equipment.
• Training & Development: Lead training sessions and provide ongoing professional development for junior staff, ensuring they are up-to-date with the latest techniques and technologies in urology.

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelors degree in a relevant field.
• Certification as a Urology Technician preferred.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in a urology.
• Proficient in operating urological diagnostic and surgical equipment.
• Knowledge of urological procedures, anatomy, and patient care protocols.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lead a team and collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Detail-oriented, with a focus on patient safety and high standards of care.
