Strain is measured as the change in length or shape of an object compared to its original length or shape.
Stress and strain are related by a material's modulus of elasticity, which describes how much a material will deform under a given amount of stress.
For example, a rubber band will experience a large amount of strain when stretched, but a small amount of stress is required to cause that strain.
In contrast, a metal rod will require a large amount of stress to cause deformation, but will experience only a small amount of strain.
