Reaction mechanism
Reaction mechanism depends mainly on the types of reagent and reaction we perform. Reaction Mechanism & Types of Reagents and Reactions || Organic Chemistry 2a
Types of Reagents: Reagents are usually of 3 types: i. Nucleophilic; ii. Electrophilic (these reagents are generated by hetelytic fission of a bond)
iii. Free radical (these reagents are generated by homolytic fission of a bond).
Types of Reactions: usually there are 5 types.
1. Substitution Reactions:
a. Free radical substitution reactions
b. Nucleophilic Substitution reactions: SN1, SN2, SNi
c. Elctrophilic (aromatic) Substituion reactions
2. Addition reactions:
a. Nucleophilic Addition reactions
b. Electrophilic Addition reactions
c. Free radical addition reactions
3. Elimination reactions:
a. Unimolecular elimination reactions
b. Bimolecular elimination reactions
4. Molecular rearrangement reactions
5. Pericyclic reactions
Accordingly select one reaction and explain it in detail:
