CFM stands for Cubic Feet per Minute and is used to measure the amount of air flow in a space.
In HVAC systems, BTU is used to determine the heating or cooling capacity needed for a space while CFM is used to determine the size of the ductwork and the amount of air needed to properly ventilate the space.
For example, a 10,000 BTU air conditioner can cool a room of up to 450 square feet while a 100 CFM exhaust fan can effectively ventilate a bathroom.
