RLC layer is a Radio Link Control layer in LTE protocol stack responsible for reliable data transmission.

RLC layer is located between MAC and PDCP layers.
It provides reliable data transmission by using ARQ (Automatic Repeat Request) mechanism.
RLC layer supports two modes of operation: Transparent Mode and Unacknowledged Mode.
In Transparent Mode, RLC layer does not add any header information to the data.
In Unacknowledged Mode, RLC layer does not wait for any acknowledgement from the receiver.
RLC layer also supports segmentation and reassembly of data packets.
RLC layer can also perform ciphering and deciphering of data packets.
RLC layer can be configured to operate in either of the following modes: AM (Acknowledged Mode), UM (Unacknowledged Mode), and TM (Transparent Mode).
