If the deadlines cannot be moved which should have been a right approach since it is a high priority bug, the second best option would be to access the impact of the bug and figure out how that impact can be lowered down with minimal changes at the last day .

Since we do not want many code changes at the last moment.
So after analysing the bug, QA should propose ways in which the bug can be converted into a p2 with minimum changes
