So- you have 1000 cards in a box. You want to know what the probability is that a card drawn at random has a number that contains the digit “3”.

Let's say instead of 1000 cards, there’s only 10, numbered 1 to 10.

How many cards are there in total? 10

How many cards contain a “3”? Well, just one: “3”.

What's the probability of drawing a card containing a “3”? 1/10. (1 card with a three/10 total cards)

With me so far? Ok- let’s move on to 100 cards.
