The function of a reheater is to reheat the steam coming out of the high-pressure turbine in a power plant.

Reheaters are commonly used in power plants to improve the overall efficiency of the steam cycle.
They are placed between the high-pressure and low-pressure turbines.
The reheater receives the steam from the high-pressure turbine and reheats it before it enters the low-pressure turbine.
Reheating the steam increases its temperature and energy content, which results in improved turbine efficiency.
By reheating the steam, the moisture content is reduced, preventing damage to the low-pressure turbine blades.
Reheaters also help in achieving higher power output and reducing fuel consumption in power plants.

Accepted Answer

To add more thermal energy to the steam.The steam after superheating is expanded and further reheated in the reheater.
If we see the area on T-S diagram we find the after reheating the area on T-S diagram increase ,means we get more thermal energy and therefore increasing plant efficiency  little more as was seen with superheating only.
