Binding wire is used in construction as per IS code to tie steel reinforcement bars together.

As per IS code, binding wire should be made of mild steel wire with a diameter not less than 0.9 mm.
The binding wire should be tightly twisted and free from rust, oil, and other impurities.
The amount of binding wire required per MT of steel depends on the diameter of the steel bars and the spacing between them.
For example, for 12 mm diameter steel bars spaced at 150 mm, approximately 9 kg of binding wire is required per MT of steel.
The binding wire should be tied firmly around the steel bars, with a minimum of three twists per joint.
The ends of the binding wire should be cut off close to the twists and bent down to prevent injury to workers.
