Round 2 - Technical

(3 Questions)

  • Q1. Which motor you suggest for mixar grinder
  • Ans.

A powerful and durable motor with high RPM is recommended for a mixer grinder.

    • Choose a motor with a power rating of at least 500 watts for efficient grinding.

    • Look for a motor with a high RPM (revolutions per minute) for faster and smoother grinding.

    • Consider motors with copper winding for better heat dissipation and longer lifespan.

    • Opt for motors with overload protection to prevent damage from excessive load.

  • Q3. Why the secondary winding of CT should not be kept open circuited.
  • Ans.

The secondary winding of a CT should not be kept open circuited because it can cause high voltage and damage the CT.

    • An open-circuited secondary winding can lead to a high voltage across the winding, which can damage the CT.

    • The secondary winding of a CT is designed to have a specific impedance to ensure accurate current measurement. Keeping it open-circuited disrupts this impedance.

Round 3 - Technical

(3 Questions)

  • Q1. Question 1 Why the rating of alternator in KVA. Answare losses of an alternator are iron losses which are voltage depend and copper losses are current dependend.
  • Ans.

The rating of an alternator is in KVA because the losses of an alternator are voltage dependent (iron losses) and current dependent (copper losses).

    • The rating of an alternator is determined by its ability to handle both voltage and current losses.

    • Iron losses in an alternator, which are voltage dependent, include hysteresis and eddy current losses.

    • Copper losses in an alternator, which are current dependent, include resi...

  • Q2. What is difference between a potential transformer and a step down distrbution transformer
  • Ans.

A potential transformer is used to measure voltage, while a step down distribution transformer is used to reduce voltage.

    • Potential transformers are used in electrical measurement systems to step down high voltage to a lower, measurable voltage.

    • Step down distribution transformers are used in power distribution systems to reduce high voltage to a lower voltage suitable for use in homes and businesses.

    • Potential transforme...

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Interview
Experience: It was a 45-minute session.
Tips: They mentioned very clearly what they were looking for and so, I paid more attention to those parts.

College Name: IIT MADRAS

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Resume Shortlist
Experience: Initially they displayed the shortlist based on the overall applied resumes.

Round: Test
Experience: It was a 90 minute written test which was different for different trades. For Structures &Structural dynamics (M.Tech) the paper was answer to the question type. Questions were related to basics of structural analysis (SFD,BMD,ILD's) ,but more emphasis was given to bridges. A few questions were asked on Aptitude.T

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: GD was formal and soft-going.

Round: Other Interview
Experience: It was a Personal interview for 15-20 minutes. It was about Bridge engineering( Basics, code books followed etc.),mistakes done in the written test and about the M.Tech thesis. An added advantage since my Thesis work matches with their ongoing projects. HR related questions were asked about my family, and questions like 'Are you okay with the place of posting'

General Tips: Central placement team need to convey the companies that Structural Dynamics is a part
