Round: Test
Experience: Work, time, speed and distance, questions involving 'next logical sentence', jumbled sentences Technical: questions on Power systems, Machines, Protection, PSOC and practical questions on electrical engg
Duration: 30 minutes

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: It was a group discussion. Students spoke for 15 min after which we had to conclude. There were 8 students in my round. I spoke against it. I believed that although we need to be steady, we need to be fast too.
Duration: 20 minutes

Round: Interview
Experience: 1. What are transmission losses? How do you decrease it? 2. what is your favorite subject? I said Network Theory and Power Systems 3. What is the main advantage of using Laplace transforms 4. Explain the various protection schemes 5. what is the main advantage of using a DC series motor 6. Where did you do your project? Explain your contribution

Round: Interview
Experience: 1. Why Areva T & D 2. What are your extra-curricular activities 3. Why should i select you 4. 2nd GD topic was Movies or Cricket? What do you think? 5. What your position in class? What is the class topper's CGPA?

General Tips: CGPA matters a lot. Present yourself in a good way. Display confidence and talk about your extra curricular activities as well.If your CGPA has not been constant, prepare a good reason to answer them if questioned. For technical written test, concentrate on uses of all elec machines and study Power Systems-2 and PSP well. Projects also matter a lot

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: The aptitude test include Quantitative questions,analytical/ reasoning questions, verbal logic questions and technical questions.So there was no separate papers for each.Besides there were 90 question and the total time given was 90 min.The technical questions covered all the topics from electrical engineering. But basics were given more importance.
Duration: 90 minutes

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: The GD comprised of 8 people.The topic was as mentioned above. I talked against in the discussion at the start and came up with notions of fast and smart wins the race in the present world and supported the argument with examples and logical as well as analytical reasoning. Besides that I could also counter some of the points given by candidates who talked against. At the end we came up with the concept of situational slowness and steadiness as the conclusion of the discussion.
Duration: 20 minutes

Round: Interview
Experience: There was only one interview and it consisted of both Technical and HR. So I would utilize this space to tell about the interview from both angles. The interview panel had 3 members from the Areva team. One HR personnel, one Technical expert and one Recruitment team Head. They started of with HR questions and then to my technical expertise. the questions asked were: Why did you choose Areva? Why should we recruit you? Then they asked from my CV some questions like Why did you write designing as your hobby? Then about the way I could have written more about my Hobbies. Then they started with technical questions like : on the basis of my answer to the Question on hobbies they, Asked me to design a Transformer? what does the core consist of? why is it two core can it be 3 core and why? Then they showed a single line diagram of a transformer and asked to tell about the elements in it? The he asked about my project briefly? At last they asked why did you get lower GPA in the second year and a discussion about the CGPA followed. Finally there was a discussion about the work ethics.

Experience: There were 30 questions in general aptitude and 60 in technical.The technical ones involved questions from nearly all subjects taught till 3 rd yr 2nd sem.There were no negative marking.

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: The process was carried on in a healthy manner as we had 9 members in our group ,nearly all of them very good speakers.And since the topic was so general,it facilitated active participation by all.
Duration: 20 minutes

Round: Interview
Experience: There were simple questions like the one about the Three Pin Plug.Power systems was the main subject from which questions were asked.Define Equal Area Criterion;Mention one main attribute of power system stability.

Experience: It was properly done by all 8 of us.And we were able to discuss about the saying giving relevance to the current day events.

Experience: There was just a single interview round...HR and Tech...so details... 1) About yourself? 2) Why NIT Warangal? 3) Why Mechanical? 4) Why Areva? 5) What did you did for your project? What did you learn from it? 6) What are your other interests ?
