A thermocouple is a temperature sensor that works on the principle of the Seebeck effect. It consists of two dissimilar metals.

Thermocouples generate a voltage when there is a temperature difference between the two junctions.
The voltage generated is proportional to the temperature difference.
Common types of thermocouples include Type K, Type J, and Type T.
Type K thermocouples are made of chromel and alumel and can measure temperatures up to 1,372°C.
Type J thermocouples are made of iron and constantan and can measure temperatures up to 760°C.
Type T thermocouples are made of copper and constantan and can measure temperatures up to 370°C.
