Unbilled Revenue or Accrual accounting is a financial accounting method that allows a company to record revenue before receiving payment for goods or services sold. It is the revenue earned or recognized by a business for which the invoice is yet to be billed to the customer. Therefore, unbilled revenue or accrued revenue is treated as an asset rather than a liability. It is a temporary debt to the business that has provided the goods or services.

For example, any service provider has provided the services, but it will take approximately 2 months to the completion of the given service or work therefore for two month the amount which supposed to be received will remain unbilled in the balance sheet. Post completion of the service the invoice will be raised, and the amount will be received. As per the specific payment terms the amount can be invoiced in parts of full as well.

It can help raise the value of a business that made sale that have not been paid for. It will provide the actual picture of the balance sheet for a business
