Parts of speech refer to the different categories of words in a language.

Adjectives are words that describe or modify nouns. Example: happy, blue, tall.
Adverbs are words that describe or modify verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs. Example: quickly, very, well.
Pronouns are words that take the place of nouns. Example: he, she, they.
Prepositions are words that show the relationship between a noun or pronoun and other words in a sentence. Example: in, on, at.
Conjunctions are words that connect words, phrases, or clauses. Example: and, but, or.
Interjections are words that express strong emotion. Example: wow, ouch, hey.
