Polymorphism stands for poly+morphism. Poly means Many and Morphism means form.

Polymorphism is a language feature in java which is used in two form.

Run time polymorphism (Over Riding)
Compile time polymorphism (Over loading). Over Riding:- When two or more classes connected each other in inheritance and having method with same method signature, these method which is having same method signature called Method over riding. Over Loading:- In method overloading two or more method must have same name and parameter may be in increasing order or may be parameter sequence is different or maybe return type is different.

Polymorphism can be achieved through overriding . As already mentioned above, polymorphism refers to the ability of an object to provide different behaviours (use different implementations) depending on its own nature. Specifically, depending on its position in the class hierarchy.Overloading is the action of defining multiple methods with the same name, but with different parameters. Overriding means re-defining body of a method of superclass in a subclass to change behaviour of a method.
