If a single phase is 220V, why is the three phase 440V instead of 660V? In a standard 3-phase system the phase voltage is the line voltage divided by 1.73. So if the phase voltage is 220volts the line voltage would be 380 volts, and if the line voltage is 440 volts the phase voltage would be 254 volts.
