Interview Questions

  • Q1. How would you shape your career?
  • Q2. About CAT and GATE
  • Q3. If I pursue higher education what will be my area of specialization?
  • Q4. What gets u irritated? How would u tackle the situation if this happens?

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: 35 questions were asked in 1st of the two tests and they were simple and an alert person can solve 60-70 % easily which was more than enough.
English had some questions like identifying whether the given statement is
syntactically, semantically and grammatically correct.
45 questions were asked in the 2nd (technical) test and the questions spanned almost all subjects of ECE. Analog, Digital, electronics, DC, MPS, LICA, DICA, CN, Telematics, Cell comm. etc. were some topics asked. Questions were very simple though. Some question from electrical power asked too, like dc motor, transformer etc. 45 out of 50 applied cleared the round.
Tips: For Apti, be in touch at a "birds eye view level" of all ECE subjects. It will definitely help.
Duration: 58 minutes

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: Prohibition does not serve its purpose: I started the discussion. I listened to friends but we could not conclude.
Tips: In GD please do not over speak. Here and point out at others remarks. Conclude properly and do not mention anything after you have concluded.

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: Should funds of IITs and IIMs be diverted to primary education: I made some valid points and listened patiently to others and finally we did conclude here.

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: Questions on principle of PLL, VCO, types of capacitors and diodes (and principle of varactor diode) were asked. They also asked about my project details (which was related to IP).
I had to convince them that I was interested in communications... so i
spoke something on source coding in a DC system. Please do this since they are looking for comm engg.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: When they asked about CAT and GATE, I said that I didn't give CAT and I will attempt GATE but as a 2nd choice. Finally they asked me about my
family.
Tips: In interviews, don't let them have an impression that you have plans of higher studies as a first choice.
Be prepared for some HR questions like the ones asked above.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: in the first 30 mins around 35 questions were asked which covered verbal, quant and analytical reasoning. The question related to quant and analytical were very easy.
In the next 30 mins around 35 technical questions were there. Technical questions covered mostly all sections of electronics but questions related to analog were less.
Tips: One needs to study somewhat for verbal where you need to know semantic, syntactic and other such types of sentences.
Duration: 60 minutes

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: We were given 2 topics and for each topic time alloted was around 7 mins.
Most of the shortlisting of students was done during GD itself.
Tips: It's very important that you listen to others while
giving your point. Dont just try to oppose others without valid reasoning.

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: Most of the technical questions were easy. I was asked questions mostly on communication 1. GSM architecture 2. Different modulation (Analog/Digital)
3. Questions related to digital modulation etc.

The interview was very good and the panel members were very communicative. They patiently listened to my arguments as well as my talk. Even though I was not able to answer some questions related to GSM and communication, I tried to answer whatever I knew.
Tips: Project work and explanation in detail about the different projects you did is important.
Be frank in the interview and tell whatever you know.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: They asked about my family background, whether I am giving GATE or CAT exam, why my projects were mostly related to RFID, how come I am a Canadian citizen and why didn't I take Indian citizenship and some other questions like what you liked and disliked about their Aptitude Test. Be very frank and tell whatever you feel, I told them that there was mass copying going on during the aptitude test and many other true things.

General Tips: Be frank and study in detail about your projects.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: It was an online test. Had aptitude and technical questions. in aptitude questions there were three sections of 10 to 15 questions each. Each section tested different aspects like mental ability, speed and logical aptitude. The technical paper covered almost all the aspects of ECE. But basically the communications, Antennas n microwaves. Computer networks and cellular communications as well. 45 questions in 50 minutes.

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: The topic was "Tata's pull out of singur - was it a gain for mamatha or for people of singur". Knowledge is the key to success of GD's.

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: There was only one interview... Technical and HR combined. IT was almost HR. Technical guy asked only about cellular communication basics. Like what is the current technology widely used in India(Ans: GSM). The interview was fine. Both the interviewers were good.I anticipated technical interview but it was very simple.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: HR guy started with the routine "About yourself" and then delved into my extra curricular activities in college. After that he asked me how I would mobilise my friends or a group about doing an activity, how I would go about performing a task...like how I would divide into various parts? Like gathering information about the task, analysing the information, Selecting the plan and its implementation. He also asked why my grade point was going down? I said my position in class is constant though the GPA has dipped.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: The technical part had questions which were straight forward, not much of problem solving.More questions on mobile
communications.8085,8086 processors, few on basic signals and systems. The other sections had questions similar to CAT.

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: It was just a general topic, and so discussion about it was easy.
Tips: As far as we do the Group Discusiion as it is to be rather than making it a debate, it is fine.

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: Questions on Mobile communications were asked. Questions on my favourite 4-2 subjects, being Satellite
Communications were asked. One question on networks and basic signals each was asked.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: About yourself? What if I was a team leader, how will I manage? Why is your CGPA low? And more questions from what I said about myself. It was a very nice experience. Though the entire process went on for almost 10 hours, starting from written test it was good to know that I got the job.

General Tips: Juniors need to learn basics of all the subjects that they have had from 2nd year to final year. They much choose what kind of subjects to be strong for which company and then learn those that are needed.
