Round: Group Discussion
Experience: In the GD, I talked about the innovations of young engineers. they expected us to link the technology with agriculture sector and also enlightening villages with technology. this process is not meant to short list candidates but to check the communication skills. All the attended people got shortlisted for interviews.

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: They asked me about power plant engineering because I mentioned that I have done training in a power plant.
They asked me about rankine cycle and its working in detail and also about flue gases, ash handling and ESP.
My interview lasted only 10 minutes. they were checking my basics and they didn't went deep into the subject.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: They asked me to tell about myself and my hobbies. They check your way of communication in this particular section.
Tips: Being cool with confident face would be a serious help.

General Tips: My suggestion is be strong with basics in your field of interest. In terms of pay, this is the highest paying PSU. Do not loose an opportunity like this. Girls have a slight chance to get into this company.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: The Group Discussion was good. The topic was on Role of Engineers in Building our Nation. We were given 5 minutes to prepare for the GD. All the students were given a chance to put forth their views on the topic. Each of the students participated eagerly in the GD making it quite competitive.
Duration: 10 minutes

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: Overall the interview process was really smooth. The interviewers were really friendly. I am happy I was able to
convince them to select me to work in their company. There was no separate HR interview. It was a part of the technical interview and consisted of my background information and a strength and weakness question and my interest in joining the company.

General Tips: Please don't get nervous in front of the panel members. Be confident in two of the subjects which you have studied in college. Don't stammer and be confident in expressing your thoughts and answers both in GD and in Interview. Be thorough withe the basics of all subjects in addition to the two you are confident. If you don't know the answer please tell the panel you are not aware of the topic. And finally, know about your project. It helps a lot in your interview.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: A topic , generally a most common one like "Role of Engineers in development of India" is given and students have
to discuss about the same for about ten minutes. During GD, stress is more laid on the quality of points that you
come up with and not just blah blah .. you speak of.Mostly no elimination will be done from GD. If at all any elimination, its just if don't even open your mouth. The score of GD along with the score in interviews is used for final selection of candidates . So I suggest to take each and every part of the selection process serious.
Duration: 10 minutes

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: The technical interview of NLC is the most toughest interview I had ever attended in my life.Interviewer was
expecting a lot from NITians . The questions were all practical industry defined & application oriented and no mug
up from text books/notes works out there.Mostly you will be given a chance to tell your favorite subject , for which
I answered POWER SYSTEMS. But since almost every one chose the same, interview asked me to choose any other
subjects.I said I am comfortable with CONTROL SYSTEMS, POWER SYSTEM PROTECTION , POWER SYSTEM OPERATION & CONTROL, HVDC & FACTS , DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS ,POWER QUALITY except ELECTRICAL
MACHINES as I am zero in that:)

Round: HR Interview
Experience: I answered that I just apply only to companies of my interest (core power sector companies).
