Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: The shortlist was done directly based on resumes. In the technical interview, OOPS concepts, OS, DBMS questions were asked.
OS: thrashing, deadlock, virtual memory
DBMS: triggers, cursors
OOPS: virtual constructors, run time polymorphism, static functions, inheritance. Questions based on projects done.
Tips: Be clear with DBMS DS and OOPS. These are the main targeted concepts.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: The HR interview was a general one. Following questions were asked.
1) What's your strength?
2) What's your weakness?
3) Tell me about yourself?
These are pretty obvious questions.

2 Interview Rounds

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: There was no Aptitude round. They shortlisted based on our Resume. I had one technical round at first in which he asked questions from C,C++ (polymorphism). And then he asked whether I can write interrupt service routines. I said no. Then he asked me a testing question, which I think I did well. Then he asked me some more questions on some concepts.
Tips: Concepts were focused more than problem solving.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: My first question was "will you do testing??", I hesitated at first, but finally said yes. Then he asked me some HR questions like what are the things that frustrates you most, what will your friends say about you, do you have any problem in moving to Bangalore etc. It was all so cool,as kind of some informal talk.

General Tips: Be strong in C, C++ concepts, DS and problem solving.knowledge on OS, DBMS, Networking will be helpful. You need not prepare for months. Even if you do it for just 10 days,do it in the right way. Be strong and confident. All the very best.

2 Interview Rounds

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: The students were shortlisted based on cgpa. I had two technical interviews.
In the first round i was asked simple basic questions in c++ such as virtual constructors and destructors, friend classes, v-table and it's functions, object orientation concepts and other such questions mostly concentrating on classes, abstraction and other object orientation principles, difference between class and struct, malloc and calloc. The second round mostly consisted of coding on basic concept depiction such as on polymorphism, inheritance and virtual functions in c++, bit masking i.e. how to set or reset a given bit position. All the problems mostly were related to the basic principles in c++.
Tips: Knowledge of C and C++ is very essential.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: In the HR round I was asked that being an employee of INTEL if some person offers me a gold watch should I accept it ( say after a seminar) and if on a picnic my friend who is the owner of a hotel agrees to cut short the per plate rate for Intel employees, then should I accept that offer or not. Following which I was asked more general questions about future studies and my family which ended the discussion.
Tips: be confident and talk with integrity. This is what they looked out for.

General Tips: Be very thorough in object oriented concepts and classes. Make sure you make your point very clear to the
interviewer rather than beating around the bush. Feel relaxed in the interview room and do not panic in front of the panel members. Be very confident in what you say. In c++ be very conversant with classes, memory allocation procedure ( malloc and other similar calls). Because these are the areas in which I was interviewed mostly.

2 Interview Rounds

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: Candidates for the interview were shortlisted based on their CGPA and Projects. The number of interviews for a candidate varied. I had two technical interviews. In the first interview I was asked to write code in C for problems such as manipulating bits in certain positions in an integer, finding max in an array and optimizing for scalability. After that I was asked questions on C . I was asked the meaning of "volatile" keyword and what the compiler does to take care of it. Then I was asked questions on OOP. He asked me to give examples for polymorphism. I was asked to explain the terms : virtual function, abstract class, virtual constructor ,virtual destructor(which is not there),static variable, static function(in C and C++). In the second round I was asked questions on Inheritance. After that he asked about interrupt processing and what role processor plays in it. After that he asked questions on virtual memory and caching(not much depth).
Tips: Be clear about concepts in C and C++ particularly object oriented programming (OOP).

Round: HR Interview
Experience: I did not have a separate HR interview. I was asked HR questions at the end of the second interview. I was asked two questions on "integrity" which Intel takes very seriously. Those were:
1.Suppose I and my team have gone to attend a presentation in some other company which wants to sell its services to Intel. At the end of it I am offered gifts(anything).Should I accept/reject it and Why.
2.Suppose Intel is organizing some event and I am told to inquire and arrange some catering services for it.Suppose I know a person(friend of mine) who is ready to give discount for the service.Should I accept/reject that and why.
Then I was asked about my strengths , weaknesses(and what I am doing to improve upon them) Then I was asked whether I would go for further education. Then he asked whether I would be willing to work on Software Testing side. Lastly he asked whether I had any problems in relocating to Bangalore.
Tips: Be clear in thought and answer as per the situation. Too much diplomacy or too much straight forwardness can be dangerous too.

Skill Tips: Have a good grasp on C,C++/OOP and CA. These are the main skills pointed out by the interviewee and will help you establish your ground.
