Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Resume Shortlist
Experience: Resume Shortlist was strictly done on the basis of CGPA ! All candidates with CGPA 7.0 and above were shortlisted for the test.

Round: Test
Experience: A total of 30 questions were given to completed in a short span of 35 minutes. A set of 5-6 questions were based on a set of three graphs (generally line chart, pie chart, bar graph). Questions were based on simple calculations and test was aimed at keeping a check on accuracy and speed of the candidate
Tips: Practice a few Data Interpretation exercise to understand the graphs easily.
Duration: 35 minutes
Total Questions: 30

Round: Case Study Interview
Experience: The case was about Market entry for a Money Lender in a village. The case included identification of potential customer segment, revenue streams. Then there was some data provided regarding the interest and various kind of loan models that would be used by the lender. I was then asked to work on the profitability. This case was more on the qualitative side.
Tips: - Keep communicating with the interviewer. Involve him in the case solving process.
- If at any point of time, you are unsure about the approach you are following, ask the interviewer.

Round: Case Study Interview
Experience: The case was about a credit card company who uses various kind of marketing strategies (mail, calls etc) for customer acquisition. The interviewer started with the discussion on the marketing techniques. The data included costs, acquisition rate, and the average profits. I was asked to calculate the break even point.
The case was numerical and easy to crack once the data was provided.


Tips: - Calculate accurately. Never answer wrong because of the speed.

Round: Case Study Interview
Experience: The case was about a bank who was observing a higher delinquency rate and fraud. The data provided was about loss per customer, average revenue etc. The case typically numerical after some discussion on strategy about reducing fraud.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: This was a test based on Data Interpretation. There were 6 passages with various questions, Each passage had 2-3 charts which had to be analysed and then questions had to be answered on the basis of that. Because each passage had so many charts, anyone could easily be confused by the amount of data thrown at them, it is key to keep yourself calm and go through the questions without missing anything important. The devil is in the details.
Tips: Practice Data Interpretation Problems. I solved the CAT Data Interpretation book by Arun Sharma, The ten minute papers were really nice as they give a feel of the time constraints that you have in solving such a paper. You could also solve Data Interpretation Manhattan GRE.
Duration: 35 minutes
Total Questions: 30

Round: Case Study Interview
Experience: I had 4 case Interviews, The first case interview was a small one - It went on for about 15 minutes, The second was about half an hour long, the third was also half an hour long, and the fourth case was 1 hour long. It was a really nice experience. Key to cracking a case interview is to interact a lot with the Interviewer. Ask meaningful questions, Give logical hypothesis and feasible solutions. You can be slow, but do not make any math mistakes. Ask clarifying questions, Understand the problem correctly and then give answers, Do not hurry
Tips: for case Interviews - You should read Case in Point, other than that, you should see the sample cases given on Capital One's website, and read cases from IIM A,B , Wharton Casebooks.

Round: Test
Experience: CAT-type data interpretation test.30 questions in 35 minutes.Fast graph interpretation and quick calculations.
Tips: CAT preparation will help.
Duration: 35 minutes
Total Questions: 30

Round: Case Study Interview
Experience: A simple case, based on the credit card industry or any other field, is given. Cases lay more focus on quantitative skills apart from the focus on asking the right questions.There is a shortlist made after each case round.
Tips:  Fast calculation and insight into what data may be required to solve the case are essential.Practice the cases given on their website and at www.beprepared.in.

Round: Behavorial Interview
Experience: Questions are asked based on incidents- give examples of instances when you led a team successfully or when you had to go against your team, etc.
Tips:  Practice HR questions from HLPQ.

General Tips: Positions Of Responsibility (PORs) are required but not mandatory. They are of secondary importance if one has scored well in the exam. A good CV with good internships/projects will help one to get shortlisted.
Skill Tips: "Student needs to be quick with simple percentage calculations."
