Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: 15 minutes. Everyone was given time to conclude. Strength was 10. No specific skills were tested, Common GD skills like communication skills, listening to others viewpoint etc.
Duration: 15 minutes

Round: Interview
Experience: 1st interview was with the panelists who visited here and the other was a telephonic interview with the Head of the Division from Delhi. As office is in Gurgaon, Hindi speaking ability helps. HR related question were there mostly. Asked about General Secretary post(POR). Asked about family background. As a lot of travel is involved they see your attachment with family. Interview was mostly based on PORs and resume.
Basic HR stuff questions were asked. No case studies were asked. In Deloitt I was asked to Guessstimate the number of leaves in IITM and daily sales of Tiffany’s.
They just asked about DDP, Infrastructure Planning Management, Contracts and Infrastructure Finance.
 No specific fundas required.
Tips: Do’s:
Before going for the interview please be aware of the recent affairs in the sector. Please read the day’s newspaper as I was asked a question about Malaysian infrastructure which featured on that day’s newspaper. I couldn’t answer and that was the reason I wasn’t selected in Deloitt Infrastructure

General Tips: I had experience of handling situations in various conditions through my GenSec post. The office is in North India and the reason that I can speak Hindi was obviously an advantage.

Revise basic core subjects. For Infra students revise courses like Infrastructure Planning Management, Construction management, Contracts

Please go through the current affairs of the particular sector you are applying for( finance, Infrastructure). Before coming to the interview read the day’s newspaper.

2nd years: do not give up on your core courses. The employers (whatever sector they might belong to) expect you to do well in your core courses because that is what you are here to do. Try to have a CG above 8.
3rd years: Be well informed about current affairs, Be genuine, Have lots of mock GD and mock PI.
Skill Tips: CFA helped to an extent in Infra placement but its an asset not a necessity. They dont expect you to know all these
