4 Interview Rounds

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Resume Shortlist
Experience: Make your resume neat and tidy, of length one page. Use the right words and make sure to get it checked by seniors. Orient your resume based on the profiles being offered. Highlight things like business plans, industry-defined problems, projects in optimisation and data modelling in your resume. This is because many companies have a so-called 'HOTLIST' of students that they definitely want to interview based on resume.

Round: Group Discussion
Tips: 3/4 people from each GD group were listed down on their hotlist based on their performance in the GD. Take mock GDs and build on your confidence.  It is important to make clear points and not be very generic, along with not interfering while others are talking. Be polite as well as confident. Listen to others while the discussion is happening and be mindful of how you interact with people.Quoting instances may give you extra credits.

Round: HR Interview
Tips: There could be a third round after you're selected and they want to know more about you.  Take mock interviews. Make sure you are honest throughout the interview stage. While talking about your weaknesses, make sure to tell them about how you're trying to overcome them. Firstly, have weaknesses to talk about!

1 Interview Round

Interview Questions

  • Q1. General HR questions about yourself •
  • Q2. Specific resume questions: Have a 2 min pitch line for every line of your resume and know the jargon that you might end up using during the interview
  • Q3. Other questions were based on current affairs, opinion on stocks , market analysis where logic and interpretation matter a lot

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: HR Interview
Experience: The interview had 2 or 3 rounds depending on the candidate. It would be good to have some finance background for the HR round.  The second interview round involved solving puzzles and math problems. Many people had a third round of interview which comprised of case studies and guesstimates. One can ask for some time before answering any question- gives them an impression that you're putting thought into it. Make sure your replies don't sound rehearsed and be honest.  While talking about your weaknesses, make sure you do tell them about steps that you have taken to overcome them. They later open flow to ask them questions. Here, one must make sure that one knows the company well and ask questions specific to that company.  Most often, you won't realise the transition between HR and technical questions.
