Round: Test
Tips: A general aptitude written test was there. It is a bit more difficult as compared to other screening tests.
Round: HR Interview
Tips: There were 4 rounds of interviews – 2 guesstimates, 1 HR and 1 case study round. They look at your approach to the guesstimate and not the final answer. They expect you to able to solve puzzles as well. The guesstimates are very important to solve. The case study round is pretty easy. PoRs aren’t really important.
General Tips: Caseinpoint and Case interview cracked will help too. Manage your slots well on the day. Apart from that studying in groups help more for placements.

Tips: Mckinsey looks for 3-4 spikes in your resume. For instance, Leadership Extraordinary papers Good at academics Music, Arts, etc.Shortlisting happens through resume. You have 30 seconds to impress the HR. Make a 1 page resume giving your key achievements. Contact seniors from the firms if you’re interested. Start preparing your resume in the month of August. Proofread and make 68 drafts till it becomes perfect. Do not write things which you’re not confident about. Explain achievements in a single line
Round: HR Interview
Tips: 15 minutes – general questions/conversation (about yourself, on resume points)
Round: Case Study Interview
Experience: Two cases would be given. The possible solutions and views should be discussed with the interviewer. It is more like a conversation between the interviewee and the interviewer. They check on the approach to the given problem. Mainly break down your problem, take your time and don’t bounce onto the solution. Discuss the problem with them and move it like a conversation. Mckinsey interviews are interviewee driven. Move it in the direction you are comfortable with.
Tips: They would request you to ask one question to them – ask sensible questions such as growth curve, feedback about the interview, etc.

Experience: Selection Procedure :Test : 70 questions – 45 minutes .Areas tested were Ship Theory, Basic Engineering Mechanics and Basic Aptitude questions.Basic questions from Resume – BTP related as well as Internship related.
Duration: 45 minutes
Total Questions: 70
Round: Technical Interview
Experience: Interview : Two rounds of interview. First Round : It was more like an Informal Discussion. Second Round : It was a GD – 3 people. The question asked was 'Build a Shipyard'. Inputs from Cochin Shipyard Internship were important. The GD lasted for 30 minutes. Another interview analyzing whatever was said in the interview. Questions about Future Plans were asked. Puzzles and Guesstimates were asked. They had a concept of Peer review. Feb 2007
Tips: Preparation :Prepare basic courses like Ship Theory, Ship Design and Ship Resistance and Propulsion.Preparation for Grand Viva.A thorough technical background about BTP/DDP and intern would help.

Highlight things like business plans, industry-defined problems, projects in optimisation and data modelling in your resume.This is because many companies have a so-called 'HOTLIST' of students that they definitely want to interview based on resume.
Round: Group Discussion
Tips: 3/4 people from each GD group were listed down on their hotlist based on their performance in the GD. Take mock GDs and build on your confidence. It is important to make clear points and not be very generic, along with not interfering while others are talking. Be polite as well as confident.
