5 Interview Rounds

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Resume Shortlist
Experience: There was a resume based selection for the first round.

Round: Test
Experience: The last section of 1st common written test consisted of an essay: 4 minutes were given to write 180 words on a certain topic (aim was to check your typing skills)

2nd Written test: It consisted of questions on quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning and verbal ability, and also a few puzzles. There were also some questions from my core field of study (Accounts).

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: There was a GD round after this which was more like a personal interview plus group discussion.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: In the interview round they were more concerned about the fact that whether I will stick with the company or not. They wanted to make sure I was a good fit in the company. They asked me about my career plans and the path I was planning to follow to achieve those. I was also asked about my reasons for joining RBS and what all I knew about the bank.

They also asked me questions from accounts. These were pretty simple and anybody with even the basic knowledge of accounts could have answered those. A few questions were related to accruals, accrual accounting, balance sheet items and bank reconciliation statement.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Resume Shortlist
Experience: All the interested candidates had to submit the resume during the pre-placement talk organised by the company. Students were selected on the basis of the resume for the written test.

Round: Test
Experience: In the written test there were questions from verbal reasoning, quantitative aptitude and analytical reasoning. After the written test we were asked to write an essay of 180 words in 4 minutes. There motive was to judge our typing skills.

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: After this there was a group discussion round. Fifteen candidates were called at a time and everyone was asked to introduce oneself briefly. After the introduction there was a casual discussion about some topic with the moderator.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: After this the next round was to one on one interview. It was mostly an HR based interview. They asked me very general questions like where do I see myself in next five years, my strengths and weaknesses, why am I suitable for the company etc. Besides these, they also asked me about my family. They asked me about my fatherā€™s occupation and when I told them that he has his own business, I was asked why I was not joining the family business. They also asked me about my debating experience as I had participated in national level debating competitions. They also asked some resume based questions. Overall they wanted a person who had a good idea of what he wanted to do.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Resume Shortlist
Experience: There was no resume based selection but resume was asked for during the selection process during the group activity.

Round: Test
Experience: There was a written test which was same as the CAT pattern with questions on verbal reasoning and quantitative aptitude.

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: They asked for the resume during the group activity. It was not actually a GD but 15 guys were called in and they were asked to introduce themselves and were asked question like what do they like about Delhi and what are their interests.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: Followed by this group activity were 3 rounds of interview. The first one had HR question while the second one had numerical reasoning based questions and the third one was an informal interaction where they asked questions about me and my interests.
Besides this they asked me to tell the panel about myself, about my strengths and weaknesses and also about my short term and long term goals (questions like where do you see yourself after ā€˜nā€™ years).

They also asked me why did I think I was suitable for the company and why should they select me over other candidates. There were also questions relocation, working on weekends, frequent travelling and working in rural areas etc.

In the second interview there was a computerised test on quantitative aptitude and logical reasoning which was on the same lines as the first written test. The third round of interview, they inquired about me and my interests as well as about Delhi.
