Notice period.
As per my appointment letter, I am required to serve a three-month notice period. If I choose not to, I must compensate the company with an amount equivalent to my gross salary. However, any accrued leaves will be paid based on the basic salary.
My concern is that, as per labor laws, no organization can compel an employee to serve the full notice period, and in the worst case, only the basic salary should be deducted as compensation. Additionally, the company is charging GST on the notice pay, which I find difficult to understand.
Can someone provide clarity on this matter?
