The innocence, logic and how much I learn from the children every day - honesty, authenticity, creativity and how the cope with tough situations. I admire them, because when you look at a group of kids playing on the playground you would never say that most of them have serious problems to cope with at home. Some face parental relationship problems, fighting screaming, physical and emotional abuse. Alcoholism or substance abuse, physical, violence, bullying, financial problems, etc and yet, they are able to come to school and laugh, learn, play and smile, well able to hide their fear, trauma and loneliness. I think kids are very brave and much stronger than we give them credit for. It is a very sensitive, caring teacher that will be able to see the hurt in a child's eye, or the call for help in the sadness on their face. These are the teachers that can intercept a problem and make a real difference in a child's life. Children are vulnerable, but also very forgiving and resilient. They are really true friends and I respect them. But most of all, I love being among children to enjoy their energy and excitement. They are bundles of joy and enthusiasm, and it's contagious!
