No Salary Discussion in My Appraisal — What’s Your Experience?

In my appraisal meeting, they didn’t ask or discuss my expectations about my salary or hike percentage. The entire discussion was only about feedback and performance review. After the meeting, I asked why they didn’t allow me to share my expectations or reveal my hike numbers. They told me that the hike numbers would be decided only by the owner and then they would inform me. I feel an appraisal meeting should include open discussion about both performance and future expectations. What are your thoughts? Does this happen in your company too?

That's a big joke if I write anything in this column.

Dislikes

1) They are not clear on what thy want to do firstly. 2) Hire when they need and fire when there work is done is there ultimate mission. 3) trust me in 1 month they will fire more than 50% staff for no reason and hire again 50% for no reason. 4) when its come to work culture... never even utter this word there. because: a) the role you joined, they will change suddenly b) they will tell you things suddenly in 5 min and they expect you to do it. c) someone can work there hardly max for 2 months because either they will fire you or you will end up firing them.

Nothing about the institute to like about.

Dislikes

Work culture is terrible. They ask you to lie to the students to get money from them. Worst courses offered. Different course price offered to different students. The main guy is the worst.
