This is a local self government office of a highest status and is the largest municipal corporation in Asia having a budget of more than ₹27000 crores, bigger than many Indian states. It provides a great opportunity to work in government sector and to provide and be a part of civic services, which is a satisfying. As such Mumbai is run by Engineers working in various departments like water supply, sewarage, solid waste management, bridges, planning & design, construction, roads and storm water drains, garden, development plan and building proposals to name a few. Training and upgradation of knowledge is an essential part of the service which has been taken care of at corporation's own civic training and research centre at Borivali and now a new 15000sqmtr capacity building complex at Powai. 100% Job security is the most attractive feature subject to following an honest practice. As seen in all government organisations, growth and promotions are not related to one's performance or merit but on the seniority alone subject to the policy of reservation at intake and promotions too. Teammates are courteous in general, salary is as per 6th pay commission, appraisal is for namesake as promotions are as per seniority, leave travel assistance is given once in two years, work place politics is at par with any corporate office, political interference is tremendous, learning opportunities are limited, innovations are seldom appreciated, work-life balance is one's own strategy. In one word, political interference and misuse of power by superiors pressure tactics are irking and detrimental to one's desire to deliver and do some good work for welfare of society.

This organization being the Asia's number One Muncipal Corporation and I am happy to be one of the part of it. We have good team mates right from the higher rank officers upto the subordinates. Seperate training center is located at Borivili. Being a Government Organization, hence full job security. Salary is based on the post heldand every year increment is added in the salary. Travelling is only needed in mumbai regions as the organization itself is for mumbai city. The major learning part is, as efficiently the challenges are taken and hardship to perform our duties to our best and in the interest and satisfications of the Mumbai citizens. Recently latest technologies are introduced in the working of this organization. Getting Promotion on the higher Ranks and Posts from the organization is very slow process and the Administrative part performed by the clerical departments is not good and very lithargic.
