The newspaper's primary Achilles heel is that is is owned by people who are not trained joirnalists and as a consequence, the paper is unprepared for the great crisis of journalism just on the horizon - the reduction of paper sales due to competition from online news and broadcast journalism. There appears to be an inherent lack of vision to take the newspaper into the 21st century. Where it should be concentrating on podcasts, comprehensive info graphics, cutting edge newspaper design, compelling online presence and in-depth reporting, it exists much as it did in the 1980s, a local newspaper catering to a rapidly aging population of retirees....Read More

Work Details

I personally enjoyed working at the newspaper because I had the privilege of being granted a great deal of autonomy in my work. The same does not apply to 80% of employees. The job, however, can become tiresome owing to a lack of innovation.
