The company offers medical insurance claims processing and coding, accounting management services (including billing and collection), and medical records storage services to hospitals, clinics, and group practices across the US. UMC has developed proprietary software devoted to preparing and processing claims. The company operates from several locations in Texas. In 2006 UMC lost its biggest customer, Marshall Regional Medical Center (MRMC), for which UMC had provided billing services for two years. MRMC represented about half of UMC's annual revenues the previous year.
