When I came to Japan, it was difficult to find job with no Japanese skills, but Rakuten gave me opportunity to work and grow. It was best experience working with Rakuten. I worked with people from different regions of world, got opportunity to learn new things and develop my skills, and the most important is work life balance.

Asakai

The 'Asakai' weekly all-hands meetings is one tradition that has been passed down since the founding of the company. Asakai (meaning “morning meeting”) is an all-hand townhall meeting held every Monday morning for all employees of Rakuten. It also includes an interactive Q&A session with our CEO, Mickey Mikitani, where he shares thoughts and views on anything from corporate strategies to HR regulations with employees. This is followed by a local Asakai with regional/local updates.

Shimekia

Shimekai is a monthly employee fun engagement activity. Here each month consists of a unique theme (fitness, celebrations, festivals etc) where all employees gather and celebrate. Shimekai provides a forum where employees from various departments/team get together and interact with each other which in turn also boosts their interpersonal relationship at work.
