Flame Metals Processing provides services such as brazing, heat treating, metallurgical engineering, and surface finishing. The company treats parts sent by customers, giving the components a desired hardness or finish. It operates two facilities in Minnesota. Flame Metals Processing's customers include more than 800 US manufacturers, mainly from the company's home region. In 2007 Chairman and CEO Dennis Stevermer, who had owned a majority stake in the company -- then called Milastar -- bought the outstanding shares of Milastar (through a company called Easton Southpaw) and took it private. It soon took the name of subsidiary Flame Metals Processing Corporation.
