In April 1999 Wimpey Alawi LLC changed its trade name to Tarmac Alawi. Later in December 2002 Tarmac Alawi LLC changed its legal name to reflect the ownership of its foreign shareholding partner and Carillion Alawi LLC was formed. Carillion Alawi LLC has the capability of undertaking works throughout the Sultanate of Oman in many sectors, such as all types of building works including leisure, commercial, industrial and residential buildings. All types of civil engineering works, including concrete structures, foundations, pavements, drainage, marine works and roadworks as well as Concrete repair works including the latest hydro demolition technology. Carillion Alawi LLC is an associated undertaking of Carillion PLC of the United Kingdom that has been involved in the construction industry for over 80 years worldwide. Carillion Alawi employs some 600 senior technical and managerial staff, and approximately 5,000 technicians and tradesmen at the current time within the Sultanate of Oman. To meet specific demands in excess of existing resources within the Oman, Carillion Alawi is able to draw upon the large number of managerial/ technical/ construction personnel and support services employed by the Carillion MENA business or by the Carillion Plc Group worldwide. The company was established in 1979, as a locally registered company with a majority Omani shareholding. Its registration No. is 1/8348/1 with the Ministry of Commerce & Industry as a building, civil engineering, mechanical and electrical contractor and with Tender Board as an Excellent Grade contractor, the highest level of contractor grading in the Sultanate of Oman under No. MQ/18. Carillion Alawi LLC are registered to BSEN ISO 9001:2008, BSEN ISO 14001:2004, OHSAS 18001:2007 and PAS99:2006 in the following activities:- “Engineering design, procurement, construction of multi-disciplinary projects in process, petro-chemical, marine and power industries, construction improvement, repair of building and civil engineering works".
