Job Description
- Support the mission ,vision, and values of Yatharth super speciality hospitals Hospital
- Planning for efficient unit functioning to assure quality patient care, theatre staffing, OR procedure scheduling and patient flow.
- Oversees the daily operation of the Surgery Department (including pre-surgical scheduling, OR, same day surgery and sterile supply )
- Leading a team of nursing staff in planning and coordination with clinicians, patients and other departments.
- Supervise nursing and other clinical management staff, including, but not limited to, performance appraisals, disciplinary actions and other related activities.
- Creating an environment that will encourage retention of clinical employees.
- Assisting and planning for delivery of optimum patient care that promotes an environment of excellence, focusing on providing quality care.
- Coordinates and provides OR orientation, competency assessment and ongoing training
- Communicates effectively as an advocate for patient/family to promote an environment of teamwork, customer service and positive communication.
- Provides supervision and assignment of surgery department staff.
- Evaluates effectiveness of goals and standards of unit/department/hospital by participating in quality audits and plan/activities to achieve excellence.
- Demonstrates personal/professional growth and competent nursing practice.
- Directs the implementation of an effective ongoing program to measure, assess, and improve the quality of theatre functions.
- Prepare and manage budgets, supervise staff and develop policies and procedures consistent with hospital objectives.
- Maintaining necessary regulatory and compliance approvals and quality accreditations.
- Act as a change agent to uplift the nursing standards and practices.
- Managing costs by continually seeking data that will identify opportunities and take action to eliminate non-value costs.
- Establishing standards for nursing practices and maintain authority, accountability and responsibility for nursing theatre services.
- Analyzing areas in planning, promoting and conducting organization-wide performance improvement activities.
- Representing the theatre nursing services at all meetings including medical staff and hospital director meetings.
- Maintains an effective and open channel of communication.
- Participates in nursing policy formulation and decision making.
- Evaluates the quality and appropriateness of nursing care, including documentation, and makes appropriate changes in nursing care delivery.
- Ensures that the units equipment is well maintained and in working order at all times.
- Facilitates and review with staff the hospital occurrence reports and to ensure action plans are implemented to prevent future occurrences.
- Ensures appropriate orientation, training and continuing education for personnel to maintain the level of competency of the staff.
- Nurtures staff development through mentoring and role modeling, i.e., by promoting and facilitating competency based training and in-service.
- Participation in staff education, staff meeting and other professional activities.
- Conduct regular physical verification of hospital stocks, i.e. drugs, equipments etc.
- Verify procedure for condemnation and procurement of hospital equipment/linen etc.
- Maintain confidentiality of patients data and hospital operations
- Maintain the confidential report and records of nursing personnel
- Ensure appropriate and tactful communications when handling sensitive issues
- Assist in planning/organizing and implementing staff development programmes.
- Maintain discipline among nursing personnel.
- Any other duties assigned from time to time.
