Senior Network Engineer

Job Overview: We are looking for a skilled Senior Network Engineer to join our team and lead the design, implementation, and management of our clients' network infrastructure

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in network architecture, configuration, and troubleshooting, with a strong focus on delivering reliable and scalable solutions

Responsibilities:

Network Design and Architecture:

Design and implement complex network architectures, including LAN, WAN, and WLAN solutions, to meet client requirements and performance objectives

Develop network diagrams, documentation, and specifications to guide implementation and support activities

Configuration and Deployment:

Configure and deploy network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points, according to industry best practices and client specifications

Implement network security measures, such as firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems, to protect client networks from cyber threats

Performance Optimization:

Monitor and optimize network performance, capacity, and reliability to ensure optimal end-user experience and minimize downtime

Conduct performance analysis, capacity planning, and network optimization initiatives as needed

Troubleshooting and Support:

Diagnose and resolve complex network issues, both proactively and reactively, utilising troubleshooting tools and methodologies

Provide technical support and assistance to junior engineers and support staff, escalating issues as necessary to ensure timely resolution

Network Security and Compliance:

Ensure compliance with network security policies, standards, and regulatory requirements

Conduct security audits, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing to identify and mitigate security risks

Change Management:

Manage network changes and upgrades, including software updates, hardware replacements, and configuration changes, following established change management processes

Coordinate with vendors, service providers, and internal stakeholders to implement changes with minimal disruption to operations

Documentation and Training:

Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides

Provide training and knowledge transfer to team members and end-users on network technologies, best practices, and procedures

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field

Master’s degree is a plus

Proven experience as a Senior Network Engineer or in a similar role, with 7 years of experience in designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise-level networks

Expertise in network protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, VLANs, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, QoS, VPNs, and wireless networking

Hands-on experience with network hardware and software from leading vendors, such as Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, Palo Alto, and Fortinet

Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, and endpoint security

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills

Professional certifications, such as CCNP, CCIE, JNCIP, or equivalent, are highly desirable

Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and interact with clients and stakeholders
