Global Analytics & Data Sciences (GADS) serves as PayPals enterprise Analytics & Data Science Solution(s)/Service(s) provider, consisting of different vertical and horizontal sub-portfolios such as consumer, merchant, risk, credit, customer operation, etc. Compliance & Privacy is a portfolio under GADS supporting Compliance & Privacy domains to enable us to fulfil regulatory requirements around Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Brand Risk Management (BRM), Sanctions Screening, Know Your Customer (KYC), and Data Privacy. We are developing AI/ML solutions to better aid detection, assisted investigation experience, and automated decisions.

• Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills and ability to address complex technical and non-technical challenges.
• Able to influence at all levels of the organization and across multiple functional teams.
• Kept up-to-date with State-Of-The-Art (SOTA) advancements in Artificial Intelligence and understand how they can be applied to solve business challenges.

• Design and develop highly scalable and efficient platform that enables data scientists to build, deploy, and monitor machine learning solutions end-to-end.
• Ensure high code quality, performance, and reliability through rigorous testing, code reviews, and adherence to software development best practices.
• Drive innovation by researching and incorporating state-of-the-art machine learning techniques, tools, and frameworks into the platform.
• Effective communication, listening, interpersonal, influencing, and alignment driving skills; able to convey important messages in a clear and compelling manner.
• Mentor team members, provide technical guidance, and foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
• Explore state-of-the-art deep learning techniques and Partner with data science and domain engineering teams to support the business transformation through AI.
• Develop trusted partnership with business, product, data scientists and architecture leaders to drive optimized platform product delivery

• 4+ year experience for PhD; 6+ year experience Machine Learning Engineer/Scientist or similar role for MS.
• Masters, PhD, or equivalent experience in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, etc.)
• Experience with end-to-end machine learning project lifecycle, from conception to production.
• Passionate to learn the state-of-the-art machine learning framework and algorithms in academia and industry.
• Proven experience in employing mathematical, statistical, and machine learning methods on real-world problems
• Proficient in data mining and familiar with SQL, BigQuery, Python, etc.
• Proficient in deep learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras).
• Knowledge of specialized areas such as NLP or computer vision.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English, capable of influencing cross-functional teams.
• Industry experience in compliance and privacy domains is a plus.
• Experience working in a multinational company is a plus.
• Familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs) is a plus.
• Publications in prominent journals or conferences in the field of AI or successful AI/ML-related patent applications are pluses.
