We have the charter for all software development across switching (for data center, campus core and access), wireless, network services, routing, optical software, datacenter and cable access.
As a Software Test Engineer, you will participate in the full software development lifecycle for a large system - at scale. You will be part of a large team of engineers working on wireless solutions and based in Bangalore, India.
Your focus is automation, testing and networking. You will contribute to defining, implementing and executing tests for our wireless solutions on network operating systems running on routers, switches, wireless controllers and access points. The role requires learning and understanding customer deployment scenarios and its tasks include:
Reviewing design and functional specifications and providing networking insights, especially from a customer experience perspective;
Designing and developing Python automation;
Planning, designing, operating and improving continuous integration and automated testing systems;
Designing and writing test strategy and test plans;
Building the network infrastructure for test execution;
Testing wireless features on simulated and real hardware in typical customer scenarios as well as stress and scale scenarios;
Collaborating with customers to run Early Field Trials.

Education and Experience
University degree in computer science, electrical engineering or equivalent.
Mandatory skills
Ability to write good software in Python and in at least one other language.
Knowledge and understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP and protocols.
Experience in troubleshooting and problem solving that involves coding, testing, debugging.
Ability to analyze user requirements.
Worked on projects focusing or featuring testing and coding
Dedication to customer success is key to this role.
Desired Skills
Experience with real-time O/S and with Unix/Linux development tools.
Understanding of wireless networking technologies and 802.11;
Experience with C or C++;
Strong interpersonal skills are desired. You should be able to multitask with multiple and distributed teams;
Ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks at the same time;

When available, the salary range posted for this position reflects the projected hiring range for new hire, full-time salaries in U.S. and/or Canada locations, not including equity or benefits. For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. Hiring ranges for sales positions include base and incentive compensation target. Individual pay is determined by the candidates hiring location and additional factors, including but not limited to skillset, experience, and relevant education, certifications, or training. Applicants may not be eligible for the full salary range based on their U.S. or Canada hiring location. U.S. employees have access to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings. Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:
.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;
1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;
1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.
For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
