Electrical Design Engineer (MEP Consultancy Office)

Role & responsibilities

Candidate must have prior work experience in a consultancy firm.

1. Design and Development:

- Develop detailed electrical designs, including power distribution, lighting systems,
communication systems, and control systems.

- Create schematics, single-line diagrams, and layout drawings using CAD, or similar design
software.

- Perform load calculations, preparation of BOQ, and voltage drop calculations to ensure
system integrity.

- Select appropriate electrical equipment, such as transformers, circuit breakers, generators, and
switchgear.

2. Compliance and Standards:

- Ensure all electrical designs comply with relevant local and international standards, such as
IEC, NEC (National Electrical Code), NBC, and IS (Indian Standards).

- Incorporate energy efficiency and sustainability practices into design where applicable.

- Prepare necessary documentation for obtaining regulatory approvals and permits.

3. Client Interactions:

- Engage with clients to understand project requirements, present design solutions, and provide
technical expertise.

- Address client feedback and modify designs as necessary to meet project goals.

- Prepare and deliver technical presentations to clients and other stakeholders.

4. Site Visits and Inspections:

- Conduct site visits to gather data, assess existing electrical systems, and evaluate project
feasibility.

- Monitor the installation and commissioning of electrical systems to ensure they meet design
specifications and quality standards.

- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during construction.

Preferred candidate profile:

1. Technical Skills:

1. Knowledge of electrical design software (CAD, DIALux etc.)

2. Strong understanding of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, and control
systems.

3. Familiarity with industry codes and standards, such as IEC, NEC, and IS.

Working Conditions:

1. Primarily office-based, with occasional site visits and inspections .

2. Travel may be required depending on project locations.
