Job Title : MYSQL Server Database Administrator (DBA)

Location : Bangalore, India (Hybrid Work Model)

Job Description :

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) to manage and optimize our SQL Server environments. This role involves ensuring the stability, performance, and security of databases while collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement database improvements. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of SQL Server architecture, performance tuning, and database maintenance best practices.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Database Patching and Configuration :

- Plan, test, and execute SQL Server patching to ensure security and system stability.

- Configure and optimize SQL Server instances based on application and performance requirements.

- Maintain high availability and disaster recovery mechanisms, including AlwaysOn, clustering, and log shipping configurations.

- Troubleshoot SQL Server configurations to ensure smooth operation.

2. Performance Optimization :

- Monitor and analyze database performance to identify and resolve bottlenecks.

- Implement query optimization techniques, address index fragmentation, and resolve locking and blocking issues.

- Leverage monitoring tools to proactively identify areas for performance improvement.

- Optimize database and hardware configurations to minimize latency and enhance system efficiency.

3. Hardware and System Changes :

- Collaborate with IT infrastructure teams to assess and implement hardware upgrades.

- Plan and execute hardware changes to ensure minimal disruption to business operations.

- Evaluate the impact of hardware and system changes on database performance and availability.

4. Collaboration with Development Teams :

- Work closely with developers to review, optimize, and approve SQL code and database design changes.

- Provide best practices and guidance on indexing, query optimization, and schema design.

- Develop and implement database improvement plans while identifying potential risks.

5. Risk Assessment and Change Management :

- Conduct risk assessments for database changes, patching, and modifications.

- Establish and enforce robust change management processes to minimize disruptions.

- Document all database changes, configurations, and improvements for future reference.

6. Database Maintenance and Troubleshooting :

- Perform regular maintenance tasks, including backups, restores, indexing, and integrity checks.

- Resolve database incidents and ensure adherence to SLAs.

- Conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues and implement long-term stability solutions.

Requirements :

Education :

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience :

- Minimum 5 years of experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA).

- Proven experience with SQL Server patching, configuration, and performance tuning.

- Strong understanding of SQL Server internals and database architecture.

Technical Skills :

- Proficiency with SQL Server (2016 and later versions) and related technologies.

- Expertise in indexing, query optimization, and performance tuning.

- Familiarity with SQL Server monitoring tools (e.g., SQL Profiler, Extended Events, DMVs).

- Experience with high availability and disaster recovery solutions (e.g., AlwaysOn, Clustering, Log Shipping, Replication).

- Knowledge of Windows Server environments and hardware configurations for database optimization.

- Working knowledge of cloud platforms like Azure SQL Database or AWS RDS is a plus.

- Proficiency in automation and scripting (PowerShell, T-SQL).

Certifications :
