This Position
We are seeking a WCAG Expert with over 5 years of experience in web accessibility standards, focusing on WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) compliance. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring accessibility standards are met across all stages of the digital product lifecycle from design through to development and quality control. This individual will collaborate with cross-functional teams to create accessible, user-friendly experiences while ensuring compliance with WCAG 2.2 (or higher) guidelines.
Responsibilities
Accessibility Oversight: Guide and advise design, development, and QA teams to ensure all digital content and front-end systems meet WCAG 2.2 standards.
Accessibility Audits & Reviews: Regularly audit web and mobile platforms for accessibility compliance, providing actionable feedback to improve conformance.
Design Collaboration: Work closely with UX/UI designers to ensure accessibility is considered at every stage of design, including color contrast, keyboard navigation, and screen reader compatibility.
Development Consultation: Provide expertise to development teams on how to implement accessible features, including ensuring the use of semantic HTML, ARIA attributes, and best practices for accessibility.
Quality Assurance: Review and validate that front-end code meets WCAG 2.2 guidelines during testing phases, ensuring that websites and apps are usable by individuals with disabilities.
Training & Documentation: Lead accessibility workshops and training sessions for team members. Create internal guidelines, standards, and best practices for WCAG compliance.
Stay Updated: Keep the team informed about changes in accessibility laws, WCAG guidelines, and emerging trends in web accessibility.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with project managers, designers, developers, and QA to ensure accessibility requirements are factored into project timelines and deliverables.
Qualifications
Familiarity with agile project management processes.
Experience conducting user testing with people with disabilities.
Knowledge of accessibility features in native mobile apps (iOS and Android).
Ability to create or review VPAT (Voluntary Product Accessibility Template) documentation.
Nice to have: Experience with Angular framework.
