Introduction:
Established in 2018, the Foundation has been engaged in a wide range of far-reaching projects, directly involving village communities in building opportunity and sustainable development in the region. Their Model Village and Model City initiatives have impacted the lives of 1,724,000 local people in over 1724 unique villages across the state through projects in pillars of Sustain Punjab, Learn Punjab (Education and Sports), Her Punjab (Women's Initiatives), and Relief
The Foundation is pursuing a bold vision to bring abundance and prosperity back to the state of Punjab in India through philanthropic initiatives supporting under-served rural and urban communities. They are on a mission to develop, replicate, and scale a development model for the under-served and marginalized rural communities through a unique approach of Wholistic Wellbeing.

They work by taking the village as the microcosm of people's lives, culture, economics and wellbeing, and are creating a thriving ecosystem for rural growth and wellbeing. They works on three inter-related areas of impact action that are critical for shaping a better future. It includes Environment and Sustainability, Youth Development, and Women's Empowerment. In just five years since inception, their Model Village initiatives have reached 2000+ villages impacting more than 2 million lives.
Reason for the hire:
- They are looking to hire a Lead Development who will be responsible for implementing an action-oriented annual fundraising plan and establishing the network & relationships to secure the revenue for the Foundation's philanthropic efforts.
- The incumbent will work directly with the India Leader for the Foundation, and members of the thematic teams to build the pipeline of support from individuals, foundations, corporates, and other funding sources. This role would also require to interface regularly with the Founder to advance the Foundation's vision.
- The incumbent will build and grow a team that will keep pace with the program growth and on-ground expansion in India and will ensure that the annual fundraising targets are set and met through a coherent approach, engaging all key stakeholders internally and externally.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Create the roadmap and strategy for the Foundation's fundraising with clear short-, medium-, and long-term objectives based on a shared vision of desired outcomes
- Develop a national network of diverse supporters strengthening the existing network and adding new champions and donors
- Build a diverse portfolio approach to fund raising in order to ensure effort and target distribution across different kinds of sources
- Proactively execute multiple aspects of the plan engaging high net worth individuals, corporations, foundations and other pertinent entities
- Work closely with Foundation Leader(s) to put in place and in use an effective fund channelisation and utilisation process along with clear measures to determine net value added in the targeted thematic areas
- Keep initiative teams informed on emergent trends and outlook in terms of long-standing partnership and/or support commitments to ensure that our operating designs are simple, relevant and practicable in terms of measurable impact
- Use the understanding of leading-edge philanthropic pipeline and cause related marketing management to drive related funding endeavours across different thematic areas of the Foundation
- Work with cross-functional teams to continually identify opportunities for enrichment and augmentation of fundraising opportunities and impact
Essential Skills and Competencies:
- A driven and empathetic leader who can work across boundaries and get things done
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision and comfort with the ambiguity of the fundraising universe
- Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and time-zones
- Ability to stretch limits to meet deadlines and time-bound goals for self and team members
- Outstanding leadership capabilities, ability to communicate a compelling vision and drive results while developing a strong team
- Adaptable with a penchant for innovation and a keen eye for emergent trends, regulatory environment, and fast-evolving policy context with willingness to learn on the fly
Must Haves:
- Master's degree in Business, Social Sciences, or another related field
- Minimum of 10 years of experience of having worked in a direct fund raising and partnership role with at least 3 years in a leadership position.
- Highly organized with strong project management skills, interpersonal skills, and an executive presence with the ability to quickly establish personal credibility and demonstrate expertise
Preferable:
- Experience with social or development sector organizations would be preferred.
- Substantial experience in a leadership role, having built, inspired and managed cross-functional teams leading them to succeed.
