Vice-Presidency Context.
The Budget, Performance Review, and Strategic Planning Vice Presidency (BPS) is organized into four Departments: BPS Strategic Planning (BPSSP) with teams supporting the corporate strategic business and budget planning process; BPS Operations Units (BPSOU) with teams supporting Practice Groups and Regions; and BPS Corporate Units (BPSCU) with teams supporting corporate units, providing capital budget support, and providing BPS systems, knowledge, and shared services; and BPS Corporate Procurement (BPSCP) which is responsible for managing the procurement of goods, services, and consulting services to support the operational activities of the World Bank Group.
BPSservice delivery model has three core roles: (1) Business Partners (serving clients directly with focus on decision support and performance oversight); (2) Centers of Expertise (providing thought-leadership and analytics, designing business finance policies, practices and systems, and coordinating knowledge management); and (3) Services in Chennai (providing centralized BPS business process, reporting and advisory services across Bank).
Unit And Job Overview.
The purpose of the BPS Services team in Chennai (BPSCH) is to accelerate, collaborate and deliver excellent, sustainable and valued BPS business process, reporting, data, advisory and systems services across BPS.
BPSCH team is looking to recruit Finance Associates.
Finance Associates are expected to have a good understanding of business finance analytics, process and data management, controls; able to support decision-making through the provision of timely, fit for purpose information on the management of financial resources across all funding sources.
They are expected to be fully proficient in cost analysis and monitoring, research, interpretation and summarization of data in a timely and accurate manner to ensure that the day-to-day BPS work program is handled in an effective and efficient manner.
In line with the competencies listed below, Finance Associates are expected to be proficient in the core BPS systems, processes and policies.
They are expected to work with the senior members of the team, internal stakeholders and external clients.
All BPS staff are expected to be fungible and able to work across different assignments over time depending on business needs and professional development objectives.
The job holder(s) will report to a Chennai-based Finance Officer within the team.
Note: We are hiring for 3 open positions against this requisition.

Selection Criteria.
Minimum Education: Relevant Bachelors degree (Accounting, Business, Finance).
Minimum Years of Relevant Experience: 1 year in a relevant field, e g accounting, finance, business.
Strong understanding of business-critical accounting and reporting applications, including SAP, AO, BW, BPC, PowerBI.
Track record of supporting business decision making through the provision of relevant analytics.
Demonstrable experience supporting programs financed from different funding sources.
Initiative, Strong interpersonal skills and Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
Technical experience in some of the following disciplines: Budget monitoring and reporting processes, including Capital Budget.
Business process analysis, design and re-engineering.
Knowledge management, including advisory services.
Report design and data visualization.
Data Science/Predictive Analytics using Python/R, Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning.

Statutory and other Stakeholder Reporting Understands the components of financial statements and how specific transactions will affect these components.
Planning and Budgeting Familiar with basic constructs of budgets and work programs.
Understands the guidelines and processes underpinning transactions and daily tasks and their implication on the entity's budget.
Performance Evaluation and Reporting Able to prepare work program and budget reports for management review.
Undertakes basic validation checks to ensure reporting accuracy.
Integrity and Independence Conducts transactions with honesty, integrity, and transparency, and allowing for oversight.
Internal Controls and Corporate Procedures Aware of the institutional and corporate guidelines that need to be complied with in processing transactions.
Able to identify and understand the internal control components surrounding immediate areas of responsibility.
Alerts supervisor to potential areas of concern.
