Sr. Safety Officer

Job description

Key Responsibilities:


1. Ensure compliance with safety regulations, codes, and standards (OSHA, NFPA, local authorities).


2. Conduct regular site inspections to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.


3. Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific safety plans and procedures.


4. Coordinate safety training programs for employees, contractors, and subcontractors.


5. Investigate incidents/accidents, near misses, and report to management.


6. Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training, and incidents.


7. Collaborate with project team to ensure safety integration in project planning.


8. Monitor and enforce Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) usage.


9. Manage emergency response plans and conduct regular drills.


10. Liaise with local authorities, regulatory bodies, and insurance companies.


Specific Responsibilities for 25-Floor Building Construction:


1. Ensure proper scaffolding, rigging, and fall protection measures.


2. Monitor crane operations, material handling, and storage.


3. Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, and plumbing contractors.


4. Supervise fire safety measures, including fire extinguishers and suppression systems.


5. Ensure proper ventilation, dust control, and air quality monitoring.


Requirements:


1. Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field.


2. 3+ years of experience in construction safety.


3. Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA 30-Hour, CSP, CMIOSH).


4. Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.


5. Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and under pressure.


Desirable Qualifications:


1. Experience with high-rise building construction.


2. Knowledge of local building codes and regulations.


3. Familiarity with safety management software.


4. Certification in first aid/CPR.
