Job Summary:
The General Manager of Trade Marketing will lead the trade marketing strategy, planning, and execution for building materials products across multiple channels. This role is responsible for driving market share, brand visibility, and sales growth by implementing innovative trade marketing programs tailored to retail and wholesale distribution channels. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in trade marketing within the building materials or similar industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning and Execution:
- Develop and implement trade marketing strategies in alignment with sales and brand goals.
- Create annual trade marketing plans, including promotions, in-store visibility, and merchandising strategies to maximize brand presence in the market.
- Collaborate with sales, brand, and product development teams to drive consumer demand and ensure channel alignment.
Channel Development and Management:
- Identify key distribution channels and establish tailored strategies to optimize market penetration.
- Build and maintain relationships with distributors, retailers, contractors, and other key stakeholders.
- Monitor channel performance and recommend adjustments to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Promotion and Activation Management:
- Lead the development of BTL (Below-the-Line) activities, including trade shows, dealer meets, contractor engagement programs, and retail activations.
- Manage end-to-end execution of trade promotions, ensuring they are aligned with the brand and sales objectives.
- Analyze promotion performance metrics and implement best practices for improvement.
Merchandising and Point-of-Sale (POS) Strategy:
- Oversee the design and implementation of in-store displays, promotional materials, and POS assets that drive brand visibility.
- Ensure POS materials are effectively utilized across retail outlets and measure impact on consumer engagement.
Market Intelligence and Competitor Analysis:
- Monitor and analyze industry trends, competitor activities, and consumer preferences.
- Provide insights and recommendations to adapt strategies and stay competitive in the market.
- Conduct regular field visits to assess market dynamics and gather on-ground feedback.
Budget Management:
- Develop and manage trade marketing budgets, ensuring cost-effective allocation and ROI.
- Track and report on budget usage and campaign effectiveness, providing data-driven insights to stakeholders.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of trade marketing professionals, setting clear goals and monitoring performance.
- Foster a collaborative work environment and encourage innovative ideas within the team.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field. An MBA is preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in trade marketing, with a focus on building materials or similar industries.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of distribution channels, retail strategies, and trade promotions.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and generate actionable insights.
- Proven track record in budget management and ROI-driven decision-making.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
