Role Overview :
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Wireless Network Engineer L1 to join our growing team. In this role, you will play a critical part in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust and high-performing wireless networks across various environments. You will be responsible for ensuring optimal network coverage, performance, and security while providing exceptional support to our customers.
Key Responsibilities :
- Conduct comprehensive site surveys to assess RF coverage, identify potential interference sources, and determine optimal equipment placement.
- Utilize RF planning tools such as Ekahau or similar to analyze signal strength, propagation, and coverage patterns.
- Design and document wireless network architectures, including access point placement, channel selection, and power levels.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot wireless network equipment, including access points, routers, controllers, and other related devices.
- Configure wireless network settings, including SSIDs, security protocols (WPA2/3, WPA3 Enterprise), and Quality of Service (QoS) settings.
- Integrate wireless networks with other network infrastructure components, such as firewalls and VPNs.
- Monitor wireless network performance using network monitoring tools and identify and resolve performance issues promptly.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot network connectivity problems, including slow speeds, dropped connections, and interference.
- Analyze network logs and performance data to identify trends and proactively address potential issues.
- Optimize network performance by adjusting antenna configurations, channel selection, and power levels.
- Implement and maintain network security measures to protect against unauthorized access and cyber threats.
- Perform regular network maintenance tasks, including firmware upgrades, security patches, and system backups.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including IT operations, security, and customer support.
- Communicate technical information clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in wireless technologies, including Wi-Fi 6/6E, 5G, and emerging standards.
- Participate in industry training and certifications to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
Skills & Qualifications :
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in wireless network engineering or a related field.
- Strong understanding of RF propagation principles, antenna theory, and wireless networking protocols (802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax).
- Proficiency in using RF planning and analysis tools such as Ekahau, Wireshark, or similar.
- Hands-on experience with configuring and troubleshooting wireless network equipment from leading vendors (e.g., Cisco, Aruba, Meraki).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues efficiently.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and analyze network performance trends.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly and concisely.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred).
- Industry certifications such as CWAP, CWNP, or CCNA Wireless (a plus).
