Role & responsibilities

• To attend the daily rounds of consultants and give a feed back to the patient and family/attendees.
• To explain to the patient and family/attendees the procedure, complications and benefits if posted for non-invasive, invasive or surgical procedures.
• Counselling the patient and attendees according to the disease condition.
• Educating the patient and family/attendee’s regarding the modifiable risk factors.
• To take appointments for patients with the concerned consultant when patient is getting discharged.
• To give education material and information to patient as guidelines and for patient safety.
• To keep patient’s family updated during a procedure.
• Follow up with the patient at home after discharge as part of Home Health Care Services.
• To follow and maintain all standards of quality as required by the organizational standards.
• Develop, implement and evaluate appropriate orientation packages tailored to the needs of the service / ward / unit and the individual nurse. Actively engage in the orientation of new staff / students.
• Encourage a culture of continuous learning, positive critique of the status quo at the ward / unit, service and organizational levels.
• Identify plan and initiate teaching strategies for staff.
• Ensure all the staff within area of responsibilities has met mandatory training requirements.
• Ensure all training undertaken is recorded.
• Educates and supports others in decision making relevant to their scope of practice.
• Nursing and related evidence is critiqued, discussed and disseminated within the organization.
• Provide research based clinical management options for complex clinical situations / issues.
• Maintain professional standards, codes and adherence to BGSGH policy, whilst insuring alignment of staff conduct within these standards / codes / policies.

Be active and visible within the team working alongside nursing / midwifery staff, motivating and actively praising valuing staff endeavors and acknowledging patient satisfaction and goo clinical care.

Preferred candidate profile

• Effective decision making, influencing, communication skills, analytical, problem solving and time management skills.
• Analytical Skills: ICN & Nursing Educator must look at a lot of different information and make decisions based on needs.
• Communication: ICN & Nursing Educator talk to their employees, and work with management to make sure the job gets done. Being able to clearly explain what needs to be done will be necessary.
• Organisation, time management, prioritising and the ability to handle a complex, varied workload
• Integrity and confidentiality
• Well versed with Microsoft Office.
