Position Description
In the role as CLSA India economist and thematic analyst the candidate will work as a part of CLSA s global economy team and with CLSA Chief Economist. In the role as thematic head of India the candidate will be writing on key macro investment themes in Indian. This will entail working closely with CLSA s local head of research and strategist. India Economist will analyze economic data, conduct research, and provide insights on policies and trends and help arrange polict tours for investors. The role with report to India Head of Research locally and CLSA Chief economist functionally.
Key Areas of Responsibilities
In the role as CLSA India economist the candidate will work as a part of CLSA s global economy team.
In the role as thematic analyst the candidate will be writing on key macro investment themes in Indian and sectors impacted by the theme.
This will entail working closely with CLSA s local and international sector analysts and strategist.
Conducting comprehensive research and analysis on thematic economic topics, including but not limited to macroeconomic trends, industry-specific dynamics, and global market developments.
Gathering relevant economic data from various sources and interpret it to identify key trends, opportunities, and risks. Use statistical methods and economic models to analyze data and draw meaningful conclusions.
Developing economic forecasts for India which are input to CLSA global economic research
Preparing high-quality reports and presentations summarizing research findings, economic outlooks, and policy implications. Clearly communicate complex economic concepts to clients.
Staying updated on the latest economic theories, research, and policy developments. Contribute to thought leadership by publishing articles, participating in conferences, and presenting research findings to investor, policy makers and industry leaders.
Engaging with clients to understand their economic needs and provide customized analysis and recommendations. Deliver presentations and participate in client meetings to discuss economic trends and their implications.
Requirements
A master's degree in Economics, Finance, or a related field.
Proven experience as an economist, preferably with a focus on thematic analysis.
Ideally the candidate should have 10 years plus experience in a sell side firm/central bank/financial institutions as an economist/thematic analyst.
The candidate should have good connect with local policy makers and have good experience of interacting with equity market investors.
Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with proficiency in statistical analysis and economic modeling.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex economic concepts in a clear and concise manner.
Knowledge of global economic trends, policy frameworks, and industry dynamics.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and engage with clients.
